Applying reason to emotions

Sometimes it helps to deal with emotions by trying to think about…. “what’s the worst that could happen?”.

Imagine you are afraid of the dark because when you were a baby you were put to bed on your own in a dark room. Now you are older you may still feel scared or anxious about being in the dark but you can remind yourself that now you are older there is nothing there to frighten you, and to solve the situation all you have to do is go and switch the light on.
